Beauden Barrett is back from injury to face the Highlanders tomorrow in Napier and coach Chris Boyd has elected to rest Ma'a Nonu.
Barrett's inclusion has allowed young first five-eighth Otere Black to link up with the New Zealand under 20s at the under 20 world cup and allows Willis Halaholo a spot on the bench.
Nonu is serving his second and final mandatory All Blacks rest in the lead up to the World Cup in October meaning Rey Lee-Lo slots in at second five-eighth.
Other changes from the 35-18 loss to the Crusaders last weekend is in the front row where Jeffery Toomaga-Allen gets a start at prop in place of Ben Franks.
Meanwhile the Highlanders have indicated they will rest their three All Blacks Ben Smith, Aaron Smith and Malakai Fekitoa.
The Highlanders will be named later today.
