Hurricanes lock Jeremy Thrush will captain against the Blues in the absence of Conrad Smith who is being rested due to a head knock.

Smith suffered the blow in the 22-18 win over the Chiefs last weekend.

Coach Chris Boyd has made five changes to the team that beat the Chiefs including an all new front row.

The front row changes were essentially forced upon Boyd with Reggie Goodes serving a one-match suspension and Ben Franks resting a sore archilles.
