The Hurricanes have continued their unbeaten start to the 2015 season beating the Highlanders 20-13 at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin tonight.
The win stretches their winning streak to five which is the best start in Hurricanes franchise history.
Prop Reggie Goodes and halfback TJ Perenara scored tries for the Hurricanes early in the second spell after the sides were locked at 3-3 at halftime.
The Highlanders controlled much of the play late in the game and when Highlanders first five-eighth Lima Sopoaga scored, the Hurricanes led by just seven with two minutes to play.
The home made one last ditch attempt to win the match but a forward pass while hot on attack blew that chance.
Flanker Ardie Savea and second five-eighth Ma'a Nonu were standout players for the Hurricanes but an injury to Savea put a dampner on his evening.
For the Highlanders, flanker Elliot Dixon was excellent and fullback Ben Smith had an outstanding match from broken play.
