Ma'a Makes It Official

  • Ma'a Makes It Official

Ma'a Nonu is coming home. The All Blacks and Blues midfielder has officially re-signed with the Hurricanes after four years away from his home franchise.

In 2011 Nonu was dumped by then incoming coach Mark Hammett who, incidentally, has now finished his tenure with the Hurricanes. Chris Boyd and John Plumtree will coach in 2015. Nonu played for both the Blues an the Highlanders after his controversial axing for the Wellington-based side.

Despite being bitter about the dumping at the time, Nonu has stated that leaving the Hurricanes has been beneficial for him even though his form at Super Rugby level has been indifferent. He also said that he is returning home to be closer to his family.
